How to Care for your Teak Furniture

Teak Furniture varies in colors from Blonde to Golden Amber to a rich, warm Caramel. Outdoor teak furniture can weather with age and look beautiful outside by simply being left alone. We recommend washing any moss or mildew found on your furniture with soap and water at least once a year. Teak Furniture that is left outdoors in the elements and sun will slowly start to turn lighter colors and even gray on the surface. Many people like the rustic outdoor aged look of Teak but if you would like to avoid this you can use an outdoor polyurethane and or stain and varnish. This type of finish might need to be re applied once a year.

Indoor Teak furniture can simply be washed with soap and water to clean. If your furniture is starting to look dry and you would like a shiny finish you can use furniture wax from your local hardware and garden store. Some of these waxes come in different finishes like light or dark brown. To use simply apply the wax in a consistent thin coat on the furniture and buff with a natural Bristol rotary brush or with a cloth to a consistent shine. There are also teak oils on the market that can be applied to enhance the finish of the furniture.
