Vintage Borneo ancestral figures, carved as a male and female pair. These sculptural pieces embody the spiritual traditions and artistry of the Indigenous Dayak peoples of Borneo. Traditionally created to honor, communicate with, and remember family ancestors, the figures stand with dramatically outstretched arms lifted outward in a gesture of spiritual greeting, protection, and connection to the heavens. Hand-carved from hardwood with elongated forms and expressive yet minimalist features, each figure displays a beautifully aged surface patina developed over decades of handling and environmental exposure. Their cowry shell inset eyes lend a powerful sense of presence and ritual significance, while subtle asymmetry, tool marks, and softened contours speak to their handmade authenticity. Excellent overall condition with rich age wear and deeply atmospheric character. Mounted on custom iron plate stands for display. Sold as a pair.
