Important original Songye stool from central Congo. Used in ceremony this chief stool depicts a caryatid figure holding the seat upwards which is covered in decorative metal tacks. Copper wire wrapped wrist bands and carved scarification patterns around eyes and on chest. Sign of age and use with some bug damage on base. Circa 1890.
