Original Bedu plank mask from Ivory Coast. The Bedu association is thought to date back to the 1930’s. They were used during harvest festivals and for the purpose of riding out the village of evil. The large attractive, abstract masks can be made as high as eight feet and weigh as much as one hundred pounds. They are affiliated with use of the elders among the sub group of the Gurensi people.
