This pendant light began as a traditional Bolga basket from northern Ghana. These baskets were objects of daily use, woven for carrying, storage, and the rhythms of agricultural life. Made from resilient veta vera grass, their form is defined by a tightly coiled weave that offers both durability and breathability. Each basket carries subtle variations in pattern and hand-dyed color, reflecting personal expression within a long-standing craft tradition. This particular basket has brilliant hues of turquoise, green, orange, and navy. Suspended as lighting, the form is transformed and its woven surface filters light into a warm, textured glow which showcases the masterful precision and material honesty of the original object. This light includes 4.5' of black hanging cord and celling plate. 100 watt max fixture. Bulb not included.
