Description
Antique bronze torque currency from the Yoruba people of Nigeria. Torques were larger pieces of currency which reflected one's amassed wealth and social prestige. They were often given as a wedding dowry to reflect the social standing of the groom's family. These pieces were also sometimes worn by women during certain ritual dances. A wonderful collector's piece, this currency is now placed on an iron stand for display.
