Early 19th century pair of carved wood ceremony spoons. Used by Dan women of Liberia from each village, the spoons had spiritual power when delivering rice to those assembled at the ceremony. They were passed from elderly to next successor that was distinguished and showed honor. Sold as a pair, each piece measures 9" x 9" x 36".
