Pair of vintage wooden fishing pole floats from Mentawai Islands, hand carved depictions of a man on one and and a woman the other. These pieces are an excellent example of the Mentawai belief that ordinary objects have souls and must be made beautiful in order to function properly. Signs of age and use add to their beauty and historic character. Displayed on iron stands for decorative use. Sold as a pair.
