Impressive 12' tall Dogon sirige mask from Mali. This incredible mask style the Dogon represents the ancestors. The bottom face section is a Hogon house. The mask representing both the sunrise and sunset as well as the past and future generations. The dancer allows the mask to touch the ground and rise back upwards in an arch to report the setting sun. The dancers of the sirige mask are considered the most skilled. They use their teeth to balance up to 20 ' high masks. Like all Dogon masks, the sirige belongs to the afterworld, the realm of where life and death meet. This wonderful collectors piece can be displayed in 2 pieces side by side or attached together and mounted on a stand or hung on a high wall.
