Hand carved old Ewe Doll from Togo, Africa. These dolls are also called ”venavi “, a small wood doll that was usually carved as twin figures and used for protection after the death of a twin. These twin figures were placed in a shrine and treated with much respect. In most cases the doll was cleaned and fed by the Ewe woman just as the live twin and sometimes was even used as a child replacement doll. Each sold individually.
