Product sku EPW19
Antique hand carved wood two-way vessel from Timor originally used to store betel nuts and lime powder. Ornately crafted with intricate details including a baboon and human head figure as lids. The betel nut is significant in southeast Asian culture and is widely used in formal and non-formal occasions and ceremonies. It is mixed with the lime powder for a tart taste and is chewed like a sort of snuff. Unique special piece with character and history and signs of age and use.
